Every cloud has a grey/silver lining...

Right so we are onto our colour project, where the end project is a skirt. This has to be made by used garments and inspired by our given colour.

My colour is grey. Whoopee.

Okay so initially I really was not pleased with my colour, because 1. It's not even a colour and 2. it's probably the last "colour" I would have picked out of all the ones that have been given out. But I guess that's the whole point of Gayle's (my teacher) sneaky plan!!!

Anyhoo, been getting cracking on some colour research and starting my little colour journal which I'll admit is quite cute. And been doing some Polyvore-ing which I'll try upload soon. In the mean time, have a look at my mood board lay outs :D

Definately need to practise on my layouts! Enjoy :)

Well haven't I been busy!

I have literally been working my little arse off for the past week or so with this Charity project, and here's what I have to show for myself! I'm actually really enjoying it as well, learning how to make our own book is pretty handy and I did my first ever silk screen print which I LOVEEE  :)

my " little people" photo shoot, inspired by Vincent Bousserez.

Making my book - sewing the spine, sewing my chess board cover and glueing my covers!

AND......My first ever screen prints, wahayyy! So proud.

So yeah :)     Hope thats of interest! Definately looking forward to my finished book, photos on Wednesday!

Screen printing ideas!

Reet so I'm hoping that tomorrow I will finally be doing my first screen printing EVER!

I KNOW!!!  Mad.

I have decided now that I am definately definately definately basing my book around The Borrowers and doing a little "How To" Guide for a a Borrower. (kind of like borrowing for dummies). And so I've designed what I want the screen prints to look like. I think that I am going to use them for the lining of my (HAND MADE!!!) guide book.

I did have a few more singular print ideas, but silly old me didn't put them on my memory stick. DOH.

So I can hopefully get some pictures of those up tomorrow or Thursday if I get them done. And tonight is the night that I have to (gulp) sew/glue/construct my own book, eek :)

What a weekend

My original plans for this weekend was....

Go out Friday night
See family, do art and go to the gym on Saturday
Go to work on Sunday (the only thing that did go to plan)

Friday I was too tired and had a killer headache, also I secretly really didn't want to miss Celebrity Big Brother - I am too sad.
Bit of a shock come Saturday morning when I was woken up by my Mum screaming in pain, which was very upsetting. So Mum, Dad and I spent the morning in A&E from 6am to 12noon! Not a very pleasant experience involving lots of tests and x rays, and no food or drink for 6 hours. So that was our Saturday gone as we slept the rest of the day!   Poor Mumma :(

Thankfully I didn't miss Celeb Big Bro on Saturday night,:P  I JOKE I JOKE! I was looking after my Mum which is more important :)

Work was hectic today which is weird for a Sunday and there was a lot of confusion about shoe sizes haha!

And NOW.....I am CRAMMING in art like mad.

The end.

my new favourite photographer!

Right so was surfing the net earlier because for our current project I am researching "The Borrowers!" and needed to find a photographer that inspired me. I planned to do a photo shoot with people, and then Photoshop them to look like they were tiny people on huge backdrops.
But when I found Vincent Bousserez, who took a large series of photos of little plastic figures , next to our every day household objects and things...Which I thought was absolutely adorable and so hilarious! I had to share them with you. So here's my favourite 3 :)

casually taking a trip in someones ass.

fat man bathing in bottle tops.

Enjoy the little people!

dug up a few golden oldies

Well there I was, surfing through all 114 photo albums on my computer (yes I counted), and I came across some sketches I did at GCSE! And I couldn't believe that I did them over 2 years ago, mad!
Anyway comparing them to more recent drawings I've done I am (sorry to be smug), pretty impressed with how much I've improved look...!

2009

2011!

And what else have I been up to today hmmm...?

Rescuing my fish from a near death experience of "death by filter" (she got sucked in!)
Researching Leprechauns...Yeah. Weird isn't it :)
And catching up with my lovely little guilty pleasure: Celebrity Big Brother.  I just love to hate Andrew Stone, have you ever seen anyone more deluded?! I think not.

Happy Wednesday x

I lied.

Yeah I said I was going for a power nap...I lied. :)

Just had to share my amazing new clothes with you all, YUM

Levi 501 shorts yummm, thankyou Urban Outfitters.

Goodies from sales shopping the other week, not that I actually bought anything in the sale of course, TYPICAL.

Topshop underwear = Lush.

Tuesdays are my favourite :)

Whooopeeeeeeeeee it's a Tuesday!   Which can only mean one thing...

I have the day off!!!! Ohyeaa.

I've had a rather productive day, been cleaning out the guinea pigs, writing my overdue thank you letters from Christmas, and most importantly; cracking on with some art!

Started doing my research on Chess, and found out that it actually originates in Persia and that the word Checkmate comes from the phrase "shah mat" which means The King Is Defeated, interesting!
Despite having a massive migraine I'm still researchin' (and maybe a little bit of Facebook-ing too, oops) and drawin', I think it's almost time for a power nap, snooze.
Here's the first page of my sketchbook, an example of me trying to boost my presentation skills so I actually have something to take to Uni interviews with me, seeing as we ripped up all my first year sketchbooks. Boo hoo...

And the beginnings of one of my pencil sketches... :)

Anyway I'd best be offski now - nap time :(

Charity Shop Chess

Reet Ho...

Our first project of this term is based around charity shops, had to nip out to a charity shop and buy something that really caught our eye and we felt a connection to.

After going to two different towns and about 8 different charity shops, I went into this really cute little vintagey type store, unlike anything I've seen before, with tonnes of lovely little trinkets.
Anyway in the end I went for the CUTEST pocket chess set, that was clearly very old and well used. I've even had a little play with it with one of my friends (probably should have been drawing it not playing with it). Here's a few of my shots!

Aren't they sweet!! :)
Hopefully I can expand upon this and come up with some good concepts and ideas for my project - I was thinking maybe little people, like the borrowers. Or chess championships OR craftsmanship.

TA-RAA

Had to be done at some point.

Right I had to start blogging at some point (don't worry I do want to as well!), I do contribute to our college Textiles blog, http://textilesrus2010.blogspot.com/ if anyone is interested but definitely needed to start getting my own one going ASAP.

Hi I'm Hannah :)

Umm right a little about me, lets have 5 little facts...

1. I'm a red head!   I have learnt to love it over the years, by telling myself that people are secretly just green with envy.

2. I love the colour green, and I can't express how much, of course it would be the colour that Topshop seems to enjoy hardly using at all in shades that I like!

3. I'm a tiny bit of a guinea-pig fanatic, not going to lie. I'm not even embarrassed. I'm told that one day I will end up like a crazy cat woman who lives alone (except with guinea pigs...obviously!!)

4. If Johnny Cash hadn't died....he was actually going to marry me.

5. (I WISH)

So now you've established that I'm a complete nutter....Hopefully I can get cracking with putting some of my work up from projects, and maybe some other little gems :)
